Osca continues to provide Coaching for Health training for staff members across all the hospitals of the Barts NHS Trust.
This involves new staff members attending a Coaching for Health taster session as part of their induction, with an opportunity to experience and practice key coaching techniques. In addition, Osca is delivering the two x half-day session to existing staff on a rolling basis, gradually supporting more of the Barts workforce as the benefits of the course spread by word of mouth. In 2023, Osca ran dedicated training for health coaching champions in the parent support team and will be working with them to train and support their colleagues to further integrate a coaching approach.
Feedback from participants:
“I thought this was some of the most useful training I’ve been on for years. The two weeks in between sessions was the perfect amount of time to practice the skills. The trainers were excellent, in terms of their presentation style, knowledge and general encouragement (good coaching!). […] I’ve already started applying what I have learned to my practice and I think it is going to have a huge difference to the way I have conversations and support families who can be difficult to otherwise engage, and also colleagues. Thank you both.” – Speech and Language Therapist (attended Barts Champions course)
“Interactive with lots of encouragement and opportunity for participation – especially as it was virtual. All principles were discussed in relation to real world implementation for us at work which was very useful.” – Physiotherapist (attended Barts Introduction course)
“Very slick and efficient virtual learning, felt like I learnt a lot in just 1/2 a day – thank you” – Exercise Physiologist (attended Barts Introduction course)
