Camden Council – Adult Social Care

Starting in 2019, Camden Council’s Adult Social Care team co-created a significant training and culture change programme with Osca, as part of the strength-based approach and particularly the 3 Conversations model.

This has not only included the provision of the core two-day Coaching for Health programme for around 250 of their staff, but also working with their senior leadership at the outset to support embedding the culture.

A key aspect of the programme has been a Train the Trainer scheme to support capacity internally. Trainers were recruited from the first five two-day trainings delivered by Osca. They then attended the Train the Trainer programme, before being quality assured by delivering the programme to their remaining colleagues. And, having trained all 250 staff, in 2023 the Council has eight quality-assured trainers who continue to train their colleagues and members of partner organisations, further expanding its impact.

Feedback from social workers who attended the two day training:

“Overall this has been one of the most useful and engaging training sessions I have been on in a while. Learning the skillset, methodology and practicalities of applying coaching will be helpful going forward.”

“I really enjoyed every aspect of this course, I feel as though I have learned so much, and realise I can use in many situations/people e.g. staff/peers/personal.”

“I feel positive that this will change and improve how I converse with others.”

“Loved it, works well in both professional and personal life, overall great training.”

“Interesting, useful and helpful practice amongst peers.”
