In September 2016, we teamed up with the RCGP to run a Coaching for Health introductory seminar for their Collaborative Care and Support Planning network group. This is a network for practitioners around the country, experts in care and support planning, to share and discuss good practice.
Our session laid the theoretical basis of our work – the integration of the Communication Ladder and Transactional Analysis – but focused specifically on the more directive side of the spectrum, the ‘challenging’ aspects. In our experience, this is the area that other health coaching related programmes cover least, and it remains important because, in any shared decision making conversation, a health professional must still use (and challenge with where necessary) their expertise.
The feedback was very positive and we are hoping to follow this up with a workshop at the RCGP annual conference in October 2017.
