Based on our prior work across North West London, Hillingdon CCG and GP Federation commissioned Osca in 2019 to deliver a large programme of work to support a range of primary care staff in Coaching for Health and wider Personalised Care skills. This included a range of two day Coaching for Health trainings for GPs, nurses, HCAs, social prescribing linkworkers, pharmacists, care co-ordinators and wellbeing support professionals. As well as shorter courses for admin and receptionists for managing challenging conversations and supporting effective personalisation. Based on feedback from this training, the main social prescribing organisation in the area – H4All – is in the process of commissioning further dedicated Coaching for Health training for the new linkworkers.
“Coaching for Health has been one of the most impactful training courses our staff teams have completed and H4All CIO now consider it to be a mandatory training for all of our staff teams delivering Social prescribing schemes across west London. The delivery of the training sessions is excellent and the content is practical, engaging and relevant. The training is complementary to our own holistic approach in supporting clients to focus on one aspect that they would like to change at a time and supports our staff to shape interventions in a patient-focused way, giving space for patients to create the changes they wish to see in their lives. From a managers perspective it is one of the few incidents where all the staff were really enthused and energised following the training and keen to apply their learnt skills to the active case management of patients”
